a fervent longing, 3 a.m.
Frostbitten ache slithers
through cracked blinds,
where a static-hand reaches
for a soul to notice.
Carnival glass whispers tales
amongst stale air,
its empty offering
to an ever-engulfing lull.
In discord, the fridge hums,
a failing choir of white noise
and arguments ridden across
once-pristine tiles.
Outside, fresh pavement glistens
as if the sky has shed its skin—
peeling itself open
to bleed the stars dry.
